I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to find specific
details and main ideas in an article and talk about free-time activities.
1. Knowledge:

Reading a text about Life on the International Space Station.

Vocabulary free-time activities.

Grammar: Present simple tense
2. Competences:

Groupwork and independent working, pair work, linguistic competence,
cooperative learning and communicative competence.
II. Teaching aids:
1. Materials: textbooks, worksheet, PowerPoint slides
2. Equipment: TV, projector, loudspeaker
III. Procedure:
1. Checking: Integrated into the warm-up activity.

Contents
1. Warm-up
Aims: to attract Ss’ attention to the lesson and review the previous lesson.

T asks Ss to work in 4 big groups.

T shows a sentence about a
student named Lan: “Lan gets up at
6 o’clock every morning.”
-
T asks Ss to create a timetable
schedule for Lan. Each Ss in the
group will add one sentence and
write it down.

T sets 5 mins for the activity.
-
After that, T collects and lets
groups check for others.
-
The groups with the most correct
sentences will be the winner.
Chain game
Suggested sentences:

Lan gets up at 6 o’clock every
morning.

She makes her bed.

She brushed her teeth.

2. Set objectives
Aims: to introduce the objectives of the lesson with a can-do statement.

I can find specific details and main ideas in an article and talk about free-
time activities.
3. Pre-reading
Aims: To get Ss’ interest in space stations and teach some related vocabulary.
