Period 1+ 2: UNIT 1: NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN
Lesson 1
I. Objectives:
- After the lesson, students will be able to greet and respond someone formally. Have pupils ask and answer questions about someone, intro-duce someone.
II. Language contents:
- Vocabulary: morning, afternoon, evening, night
- Grammar : Good morning/ Good afternoon/ Good evening/ Nice to see you again.

- Pupils' English 4 book 1, audio, recordings, computer, projector, picture…

Warm up - Have Ss play the game: passing ball to introduce themselves. 1. Look, listen and repeat. - Ask Ss to identify the characters. Who is this? Who are they? - Have Ss listen and repeat the short conversation between Miss Hien and her pupils. ( twice) - Have Ss play role to read the dialog in groups. - Call some pairs to read the conversation. - Check Ss’ understanding: T: Good morning, class. + Encourage Ss to say: Good morning, Miss Ha. 2.Point and say: - Ask Ss t look at the pictures a, b, c and d on page 6 to name people in each picture. Ask Ss to guess and complete the speech bubbles. - Ask them to act out the dialogue1. Repeat the step with some other pairs for pictures - Have Ss work in pairs to play roles - Do as an example with picture a. T: Good morning, Nga. S1: Good morning, Mr Loc. - Do the same with other greetings and parts of the day. Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. 3. Listen and tick - Ask pupils to open their students’ books on page 7. - Ask them to look at pictures and say the names of the characters. - Play the recording twice and ask Ss to listen and tick. - Play the recording again and ask Ss to listen and check their answers. - Have Ss give the answers and correct. 4. Look and write -Have pupils look at the picture on their books. -Ask pupils what they do this part. -Tell them that they are going to complete the blank basing on looking at the pictures in each sentences -Have pupils work in pairs to complete the dialogue by looking at the pictures to fill in the blanks. -Call on a pupil to write on the board and other pupils write in the notebooks in individuals. -Have pupils trade their answers within in pairs for correction. -Have pupils comment the answer on the board. -Call some pupils read aloud their work in front of the class. -Have the class chorally read each line. 5. Let’s sing - Introduce the song Good morning to you, Page 7. - Play the recording and listen the song Good morning to you. - Play the recording again for pupils to sing each line of the rhythm. - Call on a group of six to the front of the class and do the actions. The others clap their hands after the song - Group work. Pupils practise singing and doing the actions in groups. Monitor the activity and help them when necessary. Correct pronunciation Ss’ errors. - Call on one group to perform the song at the front of the class. The rest of the class sing the song and clap the rhythm. - Have class sing the song again to reinforce their pronunciation. Revision and homelink. - T repeats the sentence patterns. - T makes a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language | - Play the game. Class: What’s your name? S1: My name’s Nam. / I’m Nam. - Identify the characters. Miss Hien Students / pupils - Listen and repeat. - Play roles to read. One group repeats Miss Hien’s part and the other the pupils’ part. - Read in pairs. - Greet in chorus: Good morning, Miss Ha.
- Identify the people in each picture: Picture a: Mss Hien and Mai. Picture b: Mr Loc and Phong. Picture c: Mr Loc and Mss Hien. - Point to the pictures and practise
- Play role and speak out. - Work in pair.
- 6-7 pairs. The others observe and give comments.
- Open their books. Identify the people and the parts of the day. - Listen to the teacher. Then Ss identify parts of the day. - Listen and tick. - Check . - Give the answers: 1. a ( Good morning) 3. c 2. b ( Good evening)
