UNIT 18: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
Lesson 1 (1, 2, 3)
I. Objectives.
- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- Ask and answer questions about one's action in progress.
- Sentence Patterns: What are you doing? ̶ I’m _____.
- Vocabulary: reading, cooking, listening to music, cleaning the floor
2. Skills:
- Develop Ss listening and speaking
3. Attitudes/ Quality:
- Ss help their parents to do housework
- Complete the homework before class.
4. Forming competence:
- Using language to talk about one’s action in progress.
- Practice with their partners.
II. Methods:
- Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching
methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising,
discussion group, technical present....
III. Preparation.
1. Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book.
2. Student’s preparation: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks.

- Have ss to recite the chant Do you like
toys?
Task 1: Look, listen and repeat.
- Have ss open their book on page 52.
- Tell them that they are going to
practice asking and answering questions
indoor activities.
- Give a few seconds for ss to look at
the pictures and elicit what the
characters are saying.
- Use a poster to present the situation.
- Play the tape.
- Play the tape again.
- Call on 2 pairs to perform at the front
of the class.
- Have whole class repeat each line of
the dialogue in chorus.
- Introduce new word by using pictures:
reading, cooking, listening to music,
- Recite the chant and.
- Open their book.
- Listen.
- Look at the picture.
- Observe.

- Perform the task.
- Repeat all the dialogue.
