Part 1. Say in brief the foundation of the UK
- About 4th century B.C, England was known as Briton, and the people living here were the Britons. They belonged to the Celtic race. About the 1st century A.D(abbreviation of Anno Domini), Briton was invaded by the Roman Empire. England and wales became part of the Roman Empire for almost 400 years.
- About 5th century A.D, Briton was suffered from the Anglo-Saxon invasion of the Germanic people and they divided the country into 2 parts:
- The Celtic area was in Wales, Scotland, and Ireland
- The Anglo-Saxon area was in England - In 1066, the Duke of Norman from northern France, William the Conqueror invaded Briton
- Next few hundred years were the process of joining together the various parts of the British Isles under the English rules
- After the death of the Prince of Wales in the 13th cen. the king of England, Edward the first set about conquering Wales. In 1536, Wales was brought legally, administratively, and politically into the UK by an act of the British Parliament.
- In 1707 (18th cen.), the English and Scottish Parliaments decided to form a union based on an agreement => Great Britain was founded.
- In 1801 Ireland became part of the UK - Until 1921 the official full name of the UK was the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland”, not only “Northern Ireland”
- In 1921, Ireland was divided into 2 parts: Northern Ireland belonging to the UK, and Republic of Ireland.
Part 2: Theresa May
Theresa Mary May is a British politician serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2016. She served as Home Secretary from 2010 10 2016. May was first elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Maidenhead in 1997. Ideologically, she identifies herself as a generation conservative.

Part 1 . Why did Northern Ireland become part of the UK?
- In the 17th cen. the Irish protestant helped the English and Scottish protestant to fight against the Irish catholic. The Irish catholic was defeated and had to flee to the southern Ireland.
- In 1801, Ireland became part of the UK - Then, the English parliament encouraged people to immigrate to the troublesome area of Northern Ireland.
- As a result, the northeastern part of Ireland population saw themselves as British and wished to remain a part of the UK
