I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to
- talk about their free time by using the right vocabulary and structures about hobbies and interests
- listen for specific information to complete the text with the words about hobbies
- write sentences using the key phrases about hobbies and interests
- love and be proud of what they like doing as well as avoid bad interests.
II. LANGUAGE FOCUS:
- Vocabulary: words related to hobbies and interests
- Structures: be interested in; be good at; be into; like … + N/V-ing; my favorite is/ are…
III. TEACHING AIDS:
- Textbook: Friends Plus 6 – Starter Unit – Lesson 1 (p.6)
- Pictures used to teach vocabulary; a song about free time to warm up
- Laptop, projector/TV
- Audio track 1.02, 1.03
IV. PROCEDURES:

ACTIVITY 1: - Let Ss read the words in the box carefully and look at the pictures and match them in pairs. - Check the answer with the class - Explain some new words if necessary New words: * New words: 1. Skateboarding (n) – Show a picture. 2. Photography (n): the activity of taking photographs or filming. 3. Art (n)- show picture 4. Cycling (n): the sport of riding a bike-show picture - Let Ss listen to the tape and check then practice reading these words. | 1.
