B. PRESENTATION: (6 mins) VOCABULARY - Aim: to help students use key language more appropriately before they read and listen. - Content: study some vocabulary. - Product: remember and practice vocabulary. - Steps: * Teacher: - Give the words and phrases. - Ask Ss to find them in the conversation and guess the meaning basing on the context and the photos. - Tell Ss do in 3 minutes. - Have Ss compare their answers with a partner first. - Check Ss’ answer and show the Vietnamese meaning, play the recordings and ask Ss to repeat them. * Students: - Look at the words and phrases,then listen to the teacher. - Work in pairs to find out the meaning of the words and phrases - Compare the answer with partner. - Listen to the teacher’s feedback, check and correct the answer. - Repeat the vocabulary after the T.

C. PRACTICE. (26’) TASK 1: LISTEN AND READ. - Aims: + To get students interested in the topic. + To introduce vocabulary and grammar points to be learnt in the unit. - Content: read the conversation. - Product: have an overview of the conversation. - Steps: * Teacher: - Ask Ss to look at the picture (p.28) and answer the questions. - Focus Ss’ attention on the conversation and elicits the names of the two speakers. - Explain that Mai and Ann are watching a music programme and this is their conversation when watching it. - Play the recording twice and asks Ss to read along while listening to it. - Have Ss underline the words/ phrases that are related to music while they are listening and reading. - Call 2 students to read in pairs. - Correct Ss’ pronunciation and intonation. * Students: - Do as instructed. - Share their underlined words/ phrases with a peer. - Read the conversation. - One pair reads aloud. - Listen to the T’s feedback.
TASK 2: ANSWER THE QUESTIONS. * Aims: - To practise reading for specific information. - To develop Ss' vocabulary of the topic Music. - To check Ss’ comprehension of the conversation. * Content: do the task 2 in the textbook, read the conversation and answer the questions. * Product: Ss’ right answer. * Steps: Teacher: - Ask Ss to work individually to read the questions and underline the key words, then share their ideas with a partner who sits next to them. - Correct their answers as a class. - Ask Ss to scan the conversation for keywords, locate the part that contains information for each question. - Call out each question and has different pairs provide their answers. - Write the correct sentence on the board. Students: - Do task 2 individually first. - Share and discuss with their partners about the key words. - Do the task in pairs. - Listen and take notes.
TASK 3: FIND WORDS OR PHRASES IN THE CONVERSATION WHICH REFERS TO... - Aim: to revise words and phrases related to music. - Content: find words or phrases in the conversation which refer to. - Product: have the right words or phrases. - Steps: * Teacher: - Ask Ss to read the four categories and brainstorm words or phrases to check their prior knowledge, e.g. types of music: Rock and roll, Jazz, Pop, Classical. - Have Ss read the conversation quickly again, and find the words or phrases that refer to the categories. - Check the answers by calling out each category or writing it on the board, and asks individual Ss to write the relevant words / phrases. * Students: - Do as instructed. - Share their answers with a partner. - Listen and self-correction.
TASK 4: COMPLETE THE SENTENCES. - Aim: to help students identify present simple and present continuous and how they are used in sentences - Content: match to make complete sentences. - Product: have a completed sentences. - Steps: * Teacher: - Have Ss read the two parts of each of the four sentences and checks comprehension. - Checks the answers by calling on individual Ss to read the complete sentences and writes them on the board. - Go through each sentence and elicits the target grammar point(s), e.g. 1. compound sentence, to-infinitive; 2. bare infinitive; 3. to-infinitive; * Students: - Do the matching individually.
