I. Objectives:
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
- Ask and answer about book/ story one is reading
- Know how to use Present Continuous tense
- Improve Speaking, Listening and Writing skill
II. Procedures

1. Warm – up: - Free talk 2. New lesson GRAMMAR - Teach S Present continuous tense (PCT) (T prepares by yourself) + Help S to understand the use of PCT - Give S forms: (+) S + tobe + V_ing (-) S + tobe + not + V_ing (?) Tobe + S + V_ing? Wh-questions + do + S + Vinf? - Teach S rules of adding –ing to the verb: + verbs end with –e => drop “e” and add –ing + one – syllable verbs end with a vowel + a consonant => double the consonant and add –ing + verbs with stress on the final syllable and end with a vowel + a consonant => double the consonant and add –ing +….. (T prepares by yourself) - Teach S about signals of PCT: Now, at the moment, ….. - Give S examples for each form; positive, negative, question - Let S do some short exercises to practice (T prepares by yourself) VOCABULARY - Teach S new words - Check understanding - Require S to repeat few times for each Activity: Look, listen and repeat - Let S listen to the conversation - Practice the dialogue - Elicit structure: What are you reading? => I’m reading ….. Activity: Point and say - Practice the example with S - Help S to say the all the name of the stories first (to make sure S say it correctly) - Tell S look at pictures and practice by structure (T asks, S answers) Activity: Listen and tick - Tell S listen and put the tick in the correct name - Play the audio - Check Activity: Read and complete - Ask to read and put the given words into their suitable blanks - Give S time to do the task - Check Activity: Writing - Tell S read the questions and write answers about him/herself (in full sentences) (T can also turn into practice Speaking task) WORD STRESS - Practice with word stress in sentences 3. Summary: - Consolidate the content of the lesson - Learn and write new words and structures - Home work Give S exercises about Present Continuous |
