Hello. My name is Lucy. Last week I went to visit my friend Samantha in Spring Town.
That was my first visit to Spring Town, and I rode my motorbike to Samantha’s house.
Firstly I saw a No U-turn signal. So I had to ride forward until I see a U-turn signal. I
turned and kept riding, then I noticed the crossroad sign and check my map. I saw that I
had to turn left. But the red traffic light was on, and I had to wait for 60 seconds. I
turned left and I got stuck in a traffic jam. I waited there for nearly 15 minutes. There
was a car accident there, a car hit a motorbike and ran. At that time the motorcyclist
was moved to the hospital. I could keep my riding. Unfortunately, my phone was out of
charge, so I could not check my map and had to ask people there for route. After one
hour and 02 times of getting lost, I finally reached my friend’s home. It is unbelievable.

Watching television is an interesting and fun activity. The word television is often
shortened to TV. On TV you can watch many different programs about a wide range of
things.
Some
examples
of
TV programs
are news,
cartoons,
reality
shows,
sports,
documentaries and soap operas.
There are several channels which show different TV programs. In Vietnam, the main
channels are called “VTV1”, “VTV2”, and “VTV3”. TV guides tell us what programs are
showing on which channel, and at what time on a particular day.
Most programs on TV are episodes that are part of a series. These episodes usually
last for about 30 minutes or full hour. At the weekend, there are lots of interesting
movies on TV. Now you don’t need to go to the cinema. You can watch films at home.
It’s so comfortable.
You can learn a lot from watching TV but you should not watch too much or you will

CHRISTMAS IN AUSTRALIA
In Australia, the day before Christmas is hot. Christmas is during the summer months
and it is the beginning of a nice holiday time for pupils. Families which have relatives in
Europe, dream of having a traditional white Christmas once in their lives. Children would
like to build a snowman or go skiing, as they know it from the pictures, Christmas stories
and Christmas cards.
In Australia, Christmas presents are distributed in the morning 25th of December. It
is called Christmas morning. The electric candles burn on the Christmas tree, the family
sings Christmas carols and unwraps their presents.
After that, children go outside or down to the beach because it is usually very hot —
about 35 degrees C. At the same time, the rest of the family prepares Christmas lunch.
Some families have a big meal outside in the garden, others have it inside the house
because it is cooler there.

OUR EASTER
Hello! My name is Jack. I am 12 years old and I live in a small town in the South of
Britain with my mum, dad and my sister Emily.
It is spring now and I am very happy because Easter is coming. I am telling you what
we do in Britain at Easter.
Easter starts on Good Friday in Britain. My mum makes hot cross buns and we eat
them with tea. We usually have some activities to celebrate Easter. Last year we made
colorful hats. This year we are going to design a basket full of painted Easter eggs. It will
be a great fun.

On Easter Sunday morning, we have a big breakfast. After breakfast we all go to
church. When we get home, we give each other chocolate eggs. Kids get the biggest
eggs. Then we play “Easter Egg Hunt”. My parents hide some Easter eggs in the garden
and Emily and I look for them. We love playing it.
In the afternoon, my aunt and uncle come to our house to enjoy tea. We have Easter
cupcakes and delicious tea. After that we usually go for a walk together.
I like Easter because it is a great family festival, and we do not have to go to school
for 02 weeks.

Hello students. Today I’d like to tell you some information about types and sources
of energy. Energy is classified into two main groups: renewable and (1) .......................
The energy from natural sources such as the sun, (2) ......................., and rain is called
renewable energy. They are (3) ....................... and can be generated again and again.
They

They
can’t

them. They are (9) ........................ and easy to use. However, when burnt, they release

sources if we continue to use them?
h.
We use solar panels.
Exercise 5: Read and write T (true)/ F (false) for each statement.
The sun is our nearest star, and all of our energy comes from it. The sun sends out
very large amounts of energy every day. We call this energy solar energy or radiant
energy. Without the sun, life on earth would not exist because our planet would be
totally frozen. We use this solar energy in many different ways. The sunlight lets us see
and warms us.
Plants use the light from the sun to grow. They store it as chemical energy. The
energy is stored in their roots, fruits, and leaves. This energy feeds every living thing on
the earth. When humans and animals eat plants, and the food made from plants, we
store the energy in our bodies, in our muscles and in our brain cells.
We use this energy for everything we do. We use energy when we sing a song, think
a thought, tell a joke, climb a ladder, make a pizza, or run a race. Everything needs
energy!

Exercise 6: Read and answer the questions.
Solar power is energy from the sun. The sun has been producing energy for billions
of years, but it is only in the recent past years that this energy is collected and changed
into heat and electricity.
The energy from the rays of the sun is called solar radiation. The energy from the sun
has given power to all living things through photosynthesis. Photosynthesis takes place
when plants use the sun’s energy to make its own food, and then of course, all other
living organisms eat the plants or animals receiving that energy indirectly from the sun.
However, collecting solar power to create electricity and heat is not easy as. Today,
the sun’s energy is converted to thermal energy, which can be used to heat water for
homes, swimming pools, greenhouses, and other buildings.
Solar energy is changed into electricity in two ways. Solar panels change sunlight into
electricity. These panels collect, use and distribute the energy from the Sun. This type of
collection is also used to inside part of batteries or calculators, but mainly used for
power single homes or large power plants.
1.
What is solar power?

GRAMMAR
1. Will for future prediction
a. Form
b. Usage
He will travel to England next weekend.
What will you do when you grow up?
Do đó chúng
thay thế cho danh từ. Đừng bao giờ dùng cả đại từ sở hữu lẫn danh từ. Mặc dù cách
viết của his và its đối với tính từ sở hữu và đại từ sở hữu là giống nhau nhưng cần
phân biệt rõ hai trường hợp này

LONDON TAXI
Robert is a taxi driver in London. He works six days a week. He can starts and finishes
his work at any time he wants, as long as he works enough hours during the day. As
London is a very busy city, sometimes he works overtime on a Saturday, which is good as
it means extra money. Driving a taxi is difficult and dangerous. Traffic in the city is often
slow because of accidents and construction sites which drivers have to go around. When
it rains or snows, the roads are very difficult to drive on. Robert sometimes never gets
paid especially when he has to deal with drunk passengers. Most of Robert’s passengers
are friendly and tip him generously. Robert likes his job, but lately he has been suffering

HOT AIR BALLOON
A hot air balloon is a type of aircraft. By heating the air inside the balloon with fire, it
is lifted up. Hot air weights less than cold air which means that hot air will rise up or float
when there is cold air around. It is just like a bubble of air in a pot of water. The balloon
can carry more weight on a cold day or if the air inside the balloon is very hot.
In China, they used hot air to make objects fly and the first use of the knowledge was
used to send lanterns into the air for signaling. The hot air balloon is the oldest form of
flying technology that successfully carried people. The first hot air balloon to carry a
person was made by the French Montgolfier brothers. On September 19, 1783, they
demonstrated their invention for King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette at the
French court in Paris. The balloon flew for a period of 20 minutes.

Tổng hợp một số quy tắc nhấn trọng âm tiếng Anh
Danh từ: present (/ˈprezənt/), export (/ˈekspɔːt/), China (/ˈtʃaɪnə/), table (/ˈteɪbl/)
Ví dụ: determine (/dɪˈtɜːmɪn/), remember (/rɪˈmembər/), encounter (/ɪnˈkaʊntər/).

GRAMMAR
1. Comparisions of quantifiers (So sánh về số lượng)
a. Form
Ví dụ:
He has more money than me.
Anh ấy có nhiều tiền hơn tớ.
Big cities suffer more from pollution than countryside.
She has less experience than you.
2. Tag questions (Dạng câu hỏi tag question)
a. Usage
S1 + V + more, fewer, less + noun + than + ...
UNIT 12: AN OVERCROWDED WORLD
79
Ví dụ:
It’s raining now, isn’t it?
Trời đang mưa, phải không?
There are only twenty eight days in February, aren’t there?
Tháng Hai chỉ có 28 ngày, phải không?
You won’t be lazy, will you?
Bọn sẽ không lười biếng, phải không?
Mary and John go to visit their parents once a month, don’t they?
- There is, there are và it is là các chủ ngữ giả nên phần đuôi được phép dùng lại
there hoặc it giống như trường hợp đại từ làm chủ ngữ.

OVERPOPULATION
For
years
people
have
worried
about
the
problem
of
(1)
..........................
Overpopulation happens when an area is filled with an (2) .......................... number of
people. This causes a (3) .......................... of the resources in that area. Some people
argue that the earth is already overpopulated, with over (4) .......................... people on
the planet today. Overpopulation is a problem because if we continue adding people to

(6)

Now, however, some people say that the main problem is not overpopulation.
Instead, they see that the real problem is (7) .......................... This problem occurs when
people use more of the earth’s resources than their fair (8) .......................... Some argue
that overconsumption, not overpopulation, is what will lead to the (9) ..........................
of our planet and the (10) .......................... of our resources.
Exercise 6: Read and decide if each statement is true or false or not given.
OVERPOPULATION (CONT)
These two problems are related, but they happen in different parts of the world.
Overpopulation tends to be a worse problem in poorer countries where people rely
more
on
farming
and
often
have
larger
families
to
help
with
the
workload.
Overconsumption is a much worse problem in the richest countries in the world. The
reason for this is simple. When people have more money, they use more resources. For
example, look at carbon Missions. This is the amount of carbon released into the
atmosphere based on the energy people use by doing things like driving a car, riding in
an airplane, or heating a house. The carbon emissions of one American today are
roughly equal to those of four Chinese, 20 Indians, or 250 Ethiopians. It is basic math
that if the rich continue to use the earth’s resources at this pace, one day those
resources will run out.

work or school and come back home. There are sometimes accidents on the road. We

- Never be used up

the
amount of sunlight will vary depending on
location, time of day, year, and weather
conditions
- Cost for equipment is high
Exercise 8: Write a short paragraph to talk about solar power. The ideas in exercise 7 are
suggested for you.
Solar power systems are very beneficial. First, they do not cause pollution or carbon
dioxide. And they have very little impact on the environment. Solar energy costs less
once the equipment is in place. The energy and heat from the sun is basically free but it
costs money to build the right equipment to collect the power of the sun. However,
there are still some problems we need to solve. One of them is the inconsistency of
sunlight, because the amount of sunlight will vary depending on location, time of day,
year, and weather conditions. Also, because it is quite expensive to buy equipment to
collect the power of the sun, it is not popular to use solar power. Therefore, we should
use solar energy, but we should still try to overcome its problems.

UNIT 7: TRAFFIC
WEEK 2
Exercise 1: Listen and complete the text about traffic. (Track 13)
TRAFFIC
There is too much traffic on our roads. In rush hours, it may take 20 minutes to go
through a 02-kilometer road by motorbike.
Everyone agrees that something has to be done to solve this problem. No one likes
to spend much time going to school or the workplace. Going home takes even more
time.
It is not easy to build more or upgrade the roads because it is expensive. So, the
answer here is to reduce the number of vehicles.
Public transport may be the solution to the traffic jam.
The problem is that time is golden, so not everyone agrees to wait for means of
public transport such as buses or trains. Another problem is that they may not like to be
stuck in a crowded bus. The last problem is that the buses cannot go in a small road, so
some people who work in a small road will have to walk for a while.
The answer to traffic jam has not been found out.
Exercise 2: Listen and decide if each statement is true or false or not given. (Track 14)
TRAFFIC LIGHT
It is 1877, Garret A. Morgan is born to a poor African-American family. When he is
14, he leaves school and goes to work. He does not have much education but he is very
imaginative. He teaches himself.
Morgan works in a sewing machine shop. He gets interested in machines. He always
looks for better ways to do things.
It is 1901. Morgan invents a special belt for sewing machine. He sells the idea for
$150. But this is only the beginning. Morgan invents many things.
It is 1914. Morgan invents a helmet to protect miners and fire fighters from smoke
and gas. He wins a gold medal for this invention.
Morgan looks for other problems to solve. Cars are very popular in the USA. The
streets are crowded with cars. There are many accidents. Morgan has an idea.
What about a light at each street corner? The light tells the car to stop or go. He
invents a timer that automatically changes the light. Cities all over the country want to
have Morgan’s traffic lights but he cannot produce enough of them.

UNIT 8: FILMS
WEEK 2
Exercise 1: Listen and complete the text. (Track 15)
Among many programs and channels on TV these days such as the current news
programs, sport programs, entertaining programs, educational programs and movie
programs, etc., I like the program “the World of Animals” most.
This program is usually shown on VTV2 every day at 8.30 in the evening. It often lasts
about 45 minutes. In this program, stories of the life of many animals in the world are
told in a very lively way. For example, people can watch films about monkeys, snakes,
tigers, insects, birds, sea turtles, sharks etc. ... and even the penguins and the polar
bears. While watching these films, I find the everyday life activities and habits of these
animals very interesting. In addition, I also learn that it is very important to protect these
animals and their living environments. Watching this program makes me very relaxed
after a day of work.
Exercise 2: Listen and put the phrases under the correct person. (Track 16)
Hello. I’m Phuong and I’m 31. Watching TV is one of the activities I like to do in my
free time. The program I like most is the News at 7 p.m. on VTV3. The reason why I like
this program is that it’s very informative. It seems to be a “window to the world” with
me. By watching it, I can learn about many things that are happening in the world
without going there. Thanks to the News, I can proudly say I am not just a “frog in the
well”.
Hi. My name is Trung and I’m 20. I watch TV every day and I have a television in my
bedroom, living room and in my kitchen. I watch TV whenever I can. My favorite
programs are comedies. I like them because I like to laugh. After studying hard for hours,
it’s time for me to relax and refresh myself.
Hi. I’m Thu. I’m 19. Among all the TV programs, I like the game shows on VTV3 such
as X-Factor, Your Face Sounds Familiar, and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. They are all
really interesting, entertaining and exciting. I can also see many famous people in these
programs. I like sitting on my sofa and enjoying these game shows; it’s so comfortable.
UNIT 9: FESTIVALS AROUND THE WORLD
WEEK 2

HISTORY OF HALLOWEEN
A great number of people consider Halloween to be an American holiday. In reality,
it originates from the Celts of Ireland. These days, people do not do what the old Celts
did in the past. They do not have a big meal before the winter starts and do not leave
their houses cold, without lighting during the night, hoping to stop spirits wanting to live

there. It was believed that the souls of dead people could come back if they find a
person to stay in. Therefore, wearing scary masks and costumes to make the spirits go
away, is an old Celtic tradition.
Today, people and especially children enjoy Halloween costume parties. They dress
up as witches, vampires and ghosts. Children in masks go from house to house and when
the door opens, they say: “Trick or Treat”! If they do not get sweets, they do something
bad like throwing eggs at the house.
The classic symbols of Halloween are horror characters: black cats, spiders, witches,
and ghosts and big orange pumpkins. Great Britain and the USA celebrate Halloween
every year on the last day of October.
Exercise 2: Listen and decide if each statement is true or false. (Track 18)
HURRAY, HALLOWEEN
Hello friends! My name is James and I am twelve years old. I live in the United States.
Today, it is October 31 and it is Halloween. It is the night for witches, ghosts, bats and
other horrible things. In the USA, it is a very important festival.
It is believed that witches, ghosts, vampires will come back to Earth at Halloween
night.
Children wear special costumes: witch, wizard, vampire, etc. (This year, I am going to
be a scary ghost. I went to the shops with my mum and we bought a white sheet and
black paintings. My mum made my costumes).
We go to houses, knock on doors and say “Trick or Treat”. People usually give us
some sweets as a treat. If someone does not give us a treat, we play a trick on him or
her.
Before Halloween, we make a lantern from a pumpkin and light candles inside it. Its
name is Jack-O-Lantern.
In the evening, we usually go to Halloween parties and play games. One of the
games we play is apple bobbing. I like it a lot.
I am waiting this evening. I hope it will be fun.
UNIT 10: SOURCES OF ENERGY
WEEK 2
Exercise 1: Listen and complete the text. (Track 19)
Hello students. I’d like to tell you some information about types and sources of
energy. Energy is classified into two main groups: renewable and non-renewable.
The energy from natural sources such as the sun, wind, and rain is called renewable
energy. They are plentiful and can be generated again and again. They also have low
carbon emissions so they are considered green and environment-friendly. Moreover,
using renewable energy can reduce your electricity costs. Unfortunately, solar energy
can be only used during the daytime but not during night or the rainy season.
Non-renewable energy is the energy taken from other sources that are available on
earth. They are limited and will run out in the future. They can’t be re-generated in a

4
short time. Fossil fuels - natural gas, oil and coal - are examples of them. They are cheap
and easy to use. However, when burnt, they release toxic gases in the air so they cause
serious environmental changes such as global warming. And the important thing is that
nonrenewable sources will expire someday.
Exercise 2: Listen and decide if each statement is true or false or not given. (Track 20)
Humans store energy in their bodies, the earth stores the sun’s energy.
The sun’s energy is stored in coal, natural gas, water and wind. Coal, oil, and natural
gas are called fossil fuels.
We use the energy in these fossil fuels to make electricity. We use electricity in many
different ways. We light and heat our homes, schools and businesses using electricity,
and to run computers, refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners. Our cars
and planes run on gasoline, which comes from oil. By the year 2013, most of the energy
we use comes from fossil fuels.
However, fossil fuels are non-renewable sources of energy. They cannot be used
over and over again. This means that one day they will run out!
Luckily, there are some renewable energy sources we can use. Unlike non-renewable
fossil fuels, they will not run out. Three forms of renewable fuels are: solar (coming from
the sun) energy, water energy and wind energy. All these renewable energy sources are
essential for us because they will not run out, so we need to get better and better at
using them.

Exercise 1: Listen and decide if each statement is true or false or not given. (Track 22)
Around the world, there are many types of public transports: buses, trains, subways,
motorcycles, airplanes, etc. In Europe, it is very easy to get to know the country by train.
TRANSCRIPT

In USA and Canada, people can do that too, to travel between the countries. People can
say that in big cities around the world, the subway is the most public transport used
because it is very fast, connecting many districts to the downtown. In Holland, people
use bicycles the most. In China, Japan and India, people use bicycles much. In Britain, the
bus is used in big cities such as London. There are two main of buses in London: the
double red-decker bus and the single-decker bus. The places a bus go are shown on the
front of the bus. Some double-decker buses have automatic doors and you pay the
driver when you go in. On single-decker buses, you sometimes buy your ticket from a
machine. Couches are used for travel longer distances. Bus stops are found all along the
roads in London. Bus routes are identified by numbers and sometimes letters which are
placed at the front, side and rear of the bus. There are also open top in buses which
allow you to see the most important places of London.
Exercise 2: Listen and answer the questions. (Track 23)
My name is Michael White. I’m a reporter at a television studio. I go to work by bus
and subway. I leave home for work at 6:45 and I walk to the bus stop. There is a bus stop
near my house so I just have to cross the street and walk 2 minutes to get on the bus.
I take the bus 104 and get off at Grand Central Station. The bus is not so crowded
when I get in, so I usually have a seat in the bus, but the bus is quickly get crowded after
stopping at the next stop. Fortunately I do not have to travel so far. After getting off, I
got on the subway. It takes me about 02 hours to get to work every day.
UNIT 12: AN OVERCROWDED WORLD
WEEK 2
Exercise 1: Listen and complete the text. (Track 24)
OVERPOPULATION
Overpopulation is a real problem. It could kill the Earth. Very soon, there will be too
many people and not enough land.
There won’t be enough farms to grow food for everyone. We’ll eat all of the fish in
the sea. And our pollution will cause more global warming. I think we are in a very
serious situation.
I don’t know what the answer is. Our leaders don’t seem too worried. They never
see the bigger picture. The world’s population is exploding, and explosions cause great
damage.
More and more people are living longer and longer. We have better medicines. Our
scientists have found cures to many diseases. There are many reasons. What we really
need to do is to think about how overpopulation is damaging the Earth.
Exercise 2: Listen and decide if each statement is true or false or not given. (Track 25)
POPULATION IN THE WORLD
The world’s population is getting bigger and bigger. There’s a population explosion in
some countries. I’m not sure if this is good or bad.
BÀI TẬP CUỐI TUẦN TIẾNG ANH LỚP 7 – TẬP 2

6
The Earth can only support a limited number of people. One day, the world’s
population will be too big to feed everyone.
When that happens, we’ll have food wars and water wars. Many years ago, the
population was controlled by famines, a shorter lifespan, diseases and other natural
causes.
We are richer now and so we can control how long we live. This is already causing
problems in some countries. Japan, for example, has almost more retired people than
working people.
This means workers can’t make enough money to look after old people.
