* How to write possessive case (Possessive case)
1. Add “'s” after singular nouns.
For example: Ben's pen is so sharp.
2. Add “'s” to singular nouns that have an s at the end of each word (like a proper name, or a noun with an s built in).
For example: Doris's coat (Doris's coat)
3. Add 's to plural nouns without s
For example: Children's clothes
4. Add only commas, do not add s for plural nouns with s
For example: Books' cover.
5. When we want to say that many people have the same thing, or in other words, there are many possessive nouns, we only add the possessive symbol to the last noun.
For example: Lan and Hoa's glasses are so expensive.
- However: if it is implied that Lan and Hoa each own a pair of glasses, we will write:
Lan's and Hoa's glasses are so expensive.
6. The possessive is also used with nouns that indicate measure, time, distance or quantity.
For example: Today's news (today's news)
3. Practice 1 (30’):
- T gives each student a handout and asks Ss to do exercises in the handout individually
