Her granddad usually gets up early and waters the garden. Her parents and aunt get up at around half past six to prepare for work. Mai and her cousins share a room, so they wake up, have breakfast, and go to school together.
Living with a big family means that you always get help when you need it. Mai’s granddad and parents look after her cousins because her aunt often goes away on business trips. Mai’s cousins are older than her and are kind enough to help Mai with her homework. All members of the family have to do chores. They take turns to mop the floor, dust the furniture, and do the dishes. Everyone cleans their room once a week.
