UNIT 5: FESTIVALS IN VIET NAM
Lesson 1: Getting started
I./. Objectives
1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students need:
Listen and read for specific information about ‘Festivals in Viet Nam’, practice listening and speaking with the lexical items related to ‘Festivals in Viet Nam’
2. Skills: - Speaking: talk about festivals in Viet Nam
- Listening: Listen to the conversation between Duong and Peter and do some exercises.
- Reading: Read the conversation and then tick true or false and answer the questions.
- Writing: Write the name of some festivals in Viet Nam.
3. Attitude: - Positive about festivals in Viet Nam.
- Students know how to learn English in right way.
4. Competence: Communication, self-learning capability, creative capacity, ability to use of language……

Work in two groups - Group A writes what Vietnamese people should do and group B writes what Vietnamese people shouldn’t do during the Tet festival. - Teacher monitors and gets feedback. ? Add any names of any other festivals in Viet Nam that you know or have been to. ? Which of the festivals you would recommend to foreigners and why? |

What might they be talking about? - Ss answer the questions as a class. T plays the recording and has Ss follow along |

3. Practice- 20' 3.1a. Tick T/ F - First, play the recording and have Ss work independently. ? Listen again then do T/F exercises. ? Share your answers with a classmate before discussing as a class. - Teacher gets feedback

3.1b. Read the conversation again and answer the questions - First, ask Ss not to look at the conversation to answer the questions, then have them open their books and check their answers.
