| Ask children what they can remember about the story from the previous unit. Use Story poster 6 to retell the story with the class. Ask Where are Rosy and Alice? Why is Rosy’s dad in bed? How do the girls listen to music?
Write some times on the board, for example, 6a.m., 9p.m., 11p.m. Divide the students into teams of five to six students. Tell the teams that you will say a time. They are to guess a question for each time that is true for you. For example, you say, 9p.m. The children say the question, What time do you go to bed? The question must be factually and grammatically correct to win one point 1.Listen, point, and repeat. (Exercise 1) Ask children to look at the pictures of the different places in their books. Play the first part of the recording (Track 71) for children to listen and point to the appropriate picture. Hold up the flashcard as each word is said. Play the second part of the recording, pausing after each word for children to repeat. Play the recording all the way through for children to listen and point and then repeat the words. Hold up the flashcards in a random order and ask the class to say the words. 2. Listen and chant Play the recording (Track 72) and teach the chant. Play the recording a second time for children to repeat the words in the pauses in the chant. Repeat (more than once if necessary).
Children say the chant as a class without the recording. Pointing game Put the flashcards with the different places around the classroom. Play the chant again. Children point to the correct flashcard when they hear the word. |
