UNIT 3: WHAT DAY IS IT TODAY?

I. Objectives.
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- Pronounce the sounds of the letters ir, ur and er in the words first, Thursday and her
respectively.
- Pronounce the letter clusters ir in first, ur in Saturday, and er in her.
- Listen and circle the correct words completing the gapped sentences. Then say the
sentences aloud.
- Say the chant: What do you do on … ?
- Sentence Patterns: Revision
- Vocabulary: Revision
2. Skills: Listening and speaking.
3. Attitudes/ Quality:
- Ss love their countries.
- To help Ss know how to make friends.
4. Forming competence:
- Co- operation
- Self- study
- Ss know how to greet and respond to greeting.
- Communicate English with friends and teacher well
II. Methods:
- Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching
methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising,
discussion group, technical present....
III. Preparation.
1. Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book.
2. Student’s preparation: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks.

Task 1. Listen and repeat
- Have Ss look at words in part 1.
- Let Ss pay attention to the letters
colored.
- Have Ss learn to produce the sound
of the letters “ir” and “ur” “er”.
- Play the CD and ask Ss to listen.
- Play the CD again and ask Ss to
repeat each line of the text in chorus.
- Have Ss read in groups/ in pairs.
