Read the following passage about Vietnam and climate change and mark the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to
indicate the best answer to each of the following questions from 1 to 8.
Vietnam is one of the 11 Asian countries most vulnerable to climate change, according to a United Nations report.
With a long coastline and a reliance on agriculture, the country is at significant risk from rising temperatures, droughts and
floods. The report warns that these environmental changes could severely affect Vietnam’s economy, food security, and the
well-being of its people.
Coastal areas are especially vulnerable to sea-level rise and saltwater intrusion. In the south, these issues are
especially concerning, as they threaten to destroy agricultural land, displace communities, and disrupt local industries.
Vietnam’s economy—heavily reliant on farming, fishing, and tourism—could be severely impacted by such changes. The
central region, home to millions, faces growing risks of flooding, while the northern region may see more frequent extreme
weather events, including storms, droughts, and shifting rainfall patterns. Increased rainfall could also lead to landslides,
threatening infrastructure and homes.
To address these challenges, the report suggests that Vietnam strengthen its climate policies and invest in
sustainable technologies. International support and cooperation are also critical to helping the country adapt to climate
change. Improved disaster response, better infrastructure, and education about climate change are key to reducing the risks.
Additionally, the report emphasizes the importance of building resilient infrastructure, improving agricultural practices, and
ensuring better water management for irrigation. It also stresses the need for better coastal protection systems and forest
restoration projects.
Despite progress in poverty reduction and economic growth, Vietnam faces a major obstacle in climate change.
Without immediate action, the country could see its development setbacks, with millions of people potentially pushed back
into poverty due to extreme weather events and environmental damage.

Read the following passage about the impact of globalization on education and mark the letter A, B, C or D on your
answer sheet to indicate the best answer to each of the following questions from 26 to 35.
Globalisation has affected most aspects of our lives. One area which has changed is education. (I) At the same time, more
people stay at home and study through distance learning. It is now easy to learn without attending a college or university,
or attending less often. (II) “Blended learning” means studying partly in a traditional way in the classroom and partly online
or via email. (III) These changes also mean that there is now more interest in “lifelong learning”, the idea that we go on
learning throughout our working lives and even into retirement. (IV) It is easy to attend webinars or online seminars without
being away from our offices. Many adults go back to college later in life because it is so easy to get a qualification without
giving up work or disrupting family life.
Different countries have benefited from the globalisation of education in different ways. Many British, Australian and
American universities run their degree programmes in countries throughout Asia, and many students, parents and employers
feel this is a valuable opportunity. Students can get an internationally recognised degree at a much cheaper price than
going abroad and so can improve their chances of getting a good job. At the same time, countries that provide top-
quality education also benefit, as they gain exposure to global knowledge and ideas. Additionally, having international
students enhances the diversity and richness of their universities.
However, it is not good news for everyone in some developing countries. It is usually the elite who have access to
international education. Many people in rural areas have not even had a primary education. Also, those areas usually do not
have reliable internet connections and most people do not own a computer. It will take a bit more time for international
opportunities to reach everyone in developing countries.
