- T: greet and ask Ss some questions.

- Ss greet and answer.

I/ Warm up: Chatting (5’)

- Review some tenses Ss have learnt in grade 7 especially the simple past tense

- Have Ss ask your friends and take notes.

- Tell the class about your friends’ holiday.

II/ Presentation: Introduction (35’)

- Introduce the textbook and methods of learning.

- Tell Ss some requirement.

? What do Ss have to prepare at home? And how do they do them?

- Tell Ss some ways of learning English.

- Ss listen 

III/ Consolidation – Homework (5’)

- Ask Ss to review and remember the teacher’s requirements in the today’s lesson.

- - Prepare the new lesson: Unit 1: Getting started + Listen and read

? Did you have a beautiful summer holiday?

? Where did you go on the summer holiday?

- There are 18 units in the textbook, each unit contains 7 sections and 6 periods for each unit

- In the first semester, Ss have to learn 8 units and have tests as following:

+ two forty-five-minute tests /a semester

+ two fifteen minute test /a semester

- one semester test /at the end of the semester

* Some requirement :

- Ss must prepare lessons at home so that Ss will be able to understand new lesson easier.

* What do Ss have to prepare

- Vocabulary: Ss must look up for the meanings of all new words which they don’t know the meanings.

- Ss must read passage, dialogue before going into classroom and do the exercises (no matter how much they can do).

- Practicing: Ss must practice with friends self-consciously, especially in pairs or in grouSs.

- Ss can turn to the teacher for correct sentences or vocabularies at any time. 

* Some ways of learning English:

• Practicing at every time, about everything.
• Don’t worry about making mistakes.
• Speak as naturally as you can.
• Don’t be shy
• The more you practice the better your English will be.
